VINCENT POUJARDIEU

VINCENT POUJARDIEU

Vincent Poujardieu is a singular figure in contemporary design, working at the intersection of sculpture and object. Trained at the Bordeaux School of Fine Arts, he has developed an exacting practice in which material becomes a field of sensitive experimentation. Metal, aluminium, and industrial structures are diverted, put under tension, and pushed to their physical and symbolic limits. His approach combines a strong interest in technical innovation with a constant reflection on the meaning and use of form, giving rise to works that question balance, stability, and the relationship between fullness and void. Function is never abandoned, but is charged with an expressive, almost ritual dimension.

With the Knot series, of which a bench has recently entered the collections of the French national museums, Poujardieu explores the tensions between matter, space, and function. Made from woven metal, these pieces reimagine seating as sculptural territory, where structure itself becomes language and presence.
