ANIMATE OBJECTS

Animate Objects, founded by designer Zeynep Satik, is an Istanbul-based studio creating sculptural and collectible furniture shaped by narrative, performance, and theatrical presence. Trained in Performance Design and Practice at Central Saint Martins in London, Satık brings a multidisciplinary sensibility to her work, where form, material, and storytelling converge with precision. Drawing from literature, theatre, fine art, and her early experience in fashion, film, and advertising, she develops objects that feel animated, imbued with character, emotion, and intention. Since establishing the studio in 2022, her limited-edition pieces have explored the boundary between sculpture and function, transforming interiors into staged environments that invite imagination rather than convention.

Her work has gained international recognition, appearing in publications such as Architectural Digest, Forbes, Elle Decoration, and Sight Unseen. In 2023, she was named one of Dwell’s 24 Best Designers of the Year, reinforcing her position within the global collectible design landscape.

At the core of Animate Objects lies a desire to transcend pure functionality. Satık’s pieces merge classical references with contemporary sensibilities, combining materials such as aluminum, wood, glass, and metal through bold yet restrained forms. Each object operates as both a functional presence and a sculptural statement, often referencing theatrical figures, surreal narratives, or overlooked cultural histories. Produced by hand in small series, her works emphasize craftsmanship, material longevity, and emotional resonance. Through this approach, Satık develops a practice that brings intimacy, imagination, and quiet drama into everyday spaces, shaping objects that feel timeless yet distinctly personal.
