DEYA

DEYA

Founded in 2023 by Turkish designers Defne Arıkoğlu and Yasmin Karamolla, Deya moves between Istanbul and London, bringing together centuries-old craftsmanship and a distinctly contemporary design sensibility. Conceived as a lifestyle studio, Deya creates objects meant to be lived with, collected, and cherished, pieces that introduce warmth, character, and a sense of dialogue into everyday spaces. From the outset, the studio has embraced bold color, asymmetry, and sculptural form as tools to challenge conventional ideas of elegance. Their work rejects the notion of design as purely decorative, instead positioning objects as expressive presences that reflect individuality and invite interaction. Each piece is designed to feel personal, joyful, and slightly unexpected, encouraging new ways of inhabiting and experiencing domestic space.

Deya’s practice is grounded in close collaboration with master artisans across Turkey, including glassblowers, woodworkers, and metalworkers. Generational know-how shapes every curve, surface, and detail, allowing traditional techniques to evolve through contemporary form.

The studio first gained recognition through playful, mouth-blown glass pieces, where subtle imperfections and vibrant tones became defining signatures. Over time, this language expanded into furniture, maintaining the same spirit of experimentation and emotional resonance. Whether working with glass or larger functional forms, Deya approaches design as an experience, visual, tactile, and atmospheric. Elegance is never rigid: it is paired with humor, lightness, and a sense of freedom. Sustainability is treated not as a statement but as a responsibility, guiding choices in materials, production, and eco-conscious packaging. Rooted in craftsmanship yet open to evolution, Deya continues to develop a body of work that balances refinement and play, tradition and innovation. More than a collection of objects, the studio proposes a way of living, one where color, form, and material become tools for expression, joy, and meaningful connection within the everyday.
