GREGORY B

Gregory B is a Northern Irish artist living and working in Argelès-sur-Mer, in the south of France. His practice centers on large-format painted tapestries created on raw, unstretched canvas, conceived to transform spaces through color, scale, and movement. With a graphic sensibility and an instinctive approach to composition, Gregory B explores how simple forms can generate strong visual presence and emotional impact within an interior.

Initially inspired by the historical banners hanging in the châteaux of the Dordogne, his work reinterprets these traditional objects through a contemporary and playful lens. Rather than referencing history directly, he draws from the way banners interact with architecture, how they hang, catch the light, and introduce rhythm into a space. This dialogue between past and present forms the foundation of his visual language.

Color is central to Gregory B’s work. Bold palettes and clear compositions allow each tapestry to resonate independently while subtly echoing tones already present in a room. The pieces adapt naturally to their surroundings, activating space without overpowering it.

Through experimentation with color and shape, Gregory B creates modern tapestries for the "castles" we inhabit today, domestic spaces where art becomes part of everyday life. Each piece balances graphic clarity with softness, allowing the canvas to remain expressive, tactile, and alive. His tapestries are not static wall pieces, but architectural elements that shift with light and movement.
Collected internationally, Gregory B’s work has appeared across a range of creative contexts, from private interiors to commissioned projects developed with leading creative teams in Europe and the United States. Across all settings, his intention remains the same: to bring joy, color, and a sense of playful monumentality into contemporary spaces through a language that is both accessible and visually bold.
