HADGE
Founded in 2020 by architect Dieter Vlieghe, HADGE is an architecture and interior practice that develops a sensitive approach at the intersection of space, object, and atmosphere. Shaped by a background spanning architecture, illustration, and furniture design, the studio explores subtle balances between form and emotion, rigor and intuition, matter and perception. Educated in architecture at KULeuven St. Lucas in Ghent, Dieter Vlieghe collaborated with several European studios and designers before establishing his own practice. These experiences informed a deeply transversal approach, where architecture extends beyond the built form to include light, objects, and the careful staging of silence. At HADGE, each project is conceived as a composed whole, where elements relate to one another with restraint, clarity, and intention.
Materiality is central to the studio’s practice. Solid wood, stone, metal, and mineral plasters are worked in their most honest state, often in collaboration with artisans, so that the gesture remains visible. Each surface embraces its density, roughness, and vibration, while time becomes an active component: materials are intended to patinate, evolve, and carry the trace of use. This sensitivity extends to light, treated as a material in its own right. HADGE’s creations engage with natural variations throughout the day, revealing volumes and textures in successive touches. Today, the studio primarily develops high-end residential projects alongside one-of-a-kind furniture and objects, entirely handmade, that translate its architectural vision to a more intimate scale. Without ever seeking spectacle, HADGE favors accuracy, restraint, and sensory precision, framing architecture and design as a deeply human experience, where space becomes a place of calm, gentle tension, and authentic presence.
