Mickaël Koska

The Cactus collection began with the distinctive light of southern France and an encounter with a glass artisan. Ribbed, smoked and transparent glass stems recall the upright growth of a cactus, carrying reflections through the composition. Prickly Pear takes its starting point from the prickly pear plant and its role in protecting Mediterranean soils. Rounded clay forms and white opaline globes translate that botanical reference into lighting. Across these collections, ochres, purples and water greens echo the colours of coastal buildings and landscapes. Koska develops a coherent vocabulary of forms, textures and contrasts grounded in the Mediterranean surroundings of his studio. These relationships give his pieces a recognisable continuity across furniture and lighting collections.
