PROISY STUDIO

Founded in 2020, Proisy Studio is a contemporary design studio established by Steve Proisy, a self-taught designer driven by a profound passion for furniture and artisanal craftsmanship. Before founding the studio, Proisy spent over a decade as a Paris-based gallerist specializing in 20th-century furniture, developing an exceptional understanding of form, structure, and historical construction techniques. This dual background, both theoretical and hands-on, shaped a design approach rooted in durability, precision, and respect for material integrity.

Based in northern France, Proisy Studio designs and produces all its pieces entirely in-house. From initial sketches to full-scale drawings and final finishes, every stage of production is closely controlled. Rejecting an exclusively digital process, the studio privileges hand drawing, full-scale layouts, and traditional seat-making techniques. Solid beech wood frames, meticulous joinery, and refined upholstery ensure that each piece is conceived to endure both physically and aesthetically.

Proisy Studio operates at the intersection of tradition and contemporary expression. Modern tools coexist with ancestral techniques in a constant dialogue. This balance defines the studio’s identity and its commitment to excellence.

The studio’s collections embody a bold yet timeless vision of furniture. Particular attention is given to comfort, proportions, and finishing details, resulting in sculptural pieces that remain deeply functional. Among the studio’s emblematic creations, the Jim sofa, with its flowing, undulating lines, exemplifies this philosophy and is offered in multiple customizable configurations to suit bespoke interiors.

The execution relies on a close-knit team of skilled artisans, including experienced cabinetmakers and upholsterers trained as compagnons du devoir, ensuring a high standard of French craftsmanship.

Using noble materials and textiles sourced from leading fabric houses, Proisy Studio creates furniture that is both radical and refined. Each piece reflects a philosophy rooted in longevity, material honesty, and the enduring value of making.
