SIETE STUDIO
Founded in 2020 between Mexico City and Australia, Siete is a design studio born from the meeting of Gerardo Córdova, Alexa Fernández, and Diego Escobedo. Their practice sits at the intersection of sculptural design, functional objects, and spatial experience. Together, they develop a language they describe as sculptural and spatial design, where each object seeks to establish a direct, almost intimate connection with its user. Behind Siete’s restrained aesthetic lies a fusion of disciplines, creative direction, curatorial thinking, and an understanding of human behavior, shaping an approach in which technique, meaning, and emotion are in constant dialogue.
Mexico occupies a central place in Siete’s imagination. Its contrasts, rich craft traditions, pre-Columbian heritage, and visual intensity deeply inform the studio’s aesthetic. The Totem collection, comprising tables, chairs, and sideboards in walnut, draws directly from ritual architecture and archaeological sites, with stacked forms, pillar-like bases, and rounded volumes that create a dialogue between sculpture, furniture, and symbolism. Their first emblematic piece, the Mercurio lamp, embodies this vision: carved from walnut or translucent resin, it supports a hand-blown glass sphere that evokes an astronomical analogy to the planet Mercury. The tactile act of switching the stainless-steel button becomes a symbolic gesture, connecting the human body to space. Other works, such as the Mila cups in pigmented ceramic, extend this pursuit of essential simplicity. For Siete, design is never limited to function; each object becomes a visual and tactile experience, conceived as a sensitive narrative that bridges the tangible and the intangible.
